Dr Joan Forret
Joan's specialist area of practice encompasses all aspects of resource management and employment law. Joan presently chairs the local branch of the Resource Management Law Association (RMLA) and is the national coordinator for the RMLA special interest group on coastal issues. She regularly appears before the Environment Court and at Local Authority hearings.
Joan lectured for 5 years in Environmental and Public Law and the Law of Torts at Waikato University. She holds a PhD in law from Waikato University and arts (history) and science (chemistry) degrees from Otago University. Joan has a continuing interest in scientific issues.
Joan's doctoral thesis investigated the relationship of science and law in environmental decision making. Her PhD research has given her insight into the role and significance of expert witnesses within environmental law.
